Energy Transition - Critical Minerals

BACKGROUND

One of Artios’ research and strategy priority areas is the Energy Transition and Climate Security. Based on in-depth, mixed-methods research and expert analysis, we have delivered Critical Minerals (CM) policy, investments and infrastructure advisory for the UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) from December 2022 to June 2024.

OUR ROLE

Execution team members included cross-discipline SMEs: Mining Executives, Material Engineers & Geologists, Financial and Emerging Markets Advisors, Foreign Affairs and International Strategists, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) specialists. Artios teamed with Foresight Transitions (UK), Levin Sources (UK) and ASNL Advisory (Tanzania) to deepen expertise for minerals, mining and ESG.

Various research methods and analysis tools within Artios’ R3Labs approach were used to blend political, technical, and market information. Reliable data was promptly gathered from open-source & proprietary industry material, governmental publications, and primary research from over 150 expert interviews and focus groups. Sources included mining companies and the private sector, balanced with host nations’ government ministries and agencies, the World Bank, IFC, African Union, UK Government Departments, think tanks, NGOs, and community and gender activists. The Artios Consortia participated in academic workshops, industry events, and partner visits in the USA, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, the UK, Hong Kong and Chile.
