Artios delivers Mine Action services for clients ranging from the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), to Governments and international NGOs and has built a strong reputation for working on projects related to some of the biggest Mine Action challenges, from operations in complex urban environments, to improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and the scaling up of large nationally delivered programming that achieve localisation.

Capacity Development

Transformative Capacity Development in Mine Action

At Artios Global, we apply the UNDP Capacity Development Framework with a nuanced understanding of its three integrated dimensions. Our mine action initiatives address capacities at the individual, organisational, and enabling environment levels.

On an individual level, we recognise that skills, experience, and knowledge are pivotal. Our approach combines structured education, training, mentoring, and on-the-job experiences to foster robust individual capacities over time. Co-locating our mine action experts within national structures, a practice aligned with UNDP’s best practice guidelines, proves instrumental in building enduring capacities.

Organisational and institutional capacities are central to our focus. In collaboration with national mine action authorities and centers, we enhance governance, prioritisation, standards, accreditation, information management, and other critical aspects.

Understanding the broader enabling environment is integral. We navigate national strategies, intricate legal elements, and cultural dynamics to create a conducive atmosphere for sustained capacity development. At Artios Global, we recognise that the interconnectedness of these dimensions forms a continuous loop, influencing and reinforcing each other to achieve meaningful and lasting results.

Artios Global has provided this comprehensive Mine Action capacity development services to a range of clients, including organizations such as the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), Governments, and international NGOs like the HALO Trust and Norwegian People's Aid (NPA). We are renowned for tackling some of the most significant Mine Action challenges, and excelled at successfully scaling up large, nationally delivered programmes to achieve effective localisation.
